With a little attention and the right care, your peace lily will bloom again, giving your home its beautiful white flowers.
Peace lily, also known as the spathiphyllum , is a houseplant loved for its elegance and simplicity.
With its glossy green leaves and white spathe-shaped flowers, it adds a touch of freshness and tranquility to any corner of the house. It is easy to care for: it requires little light and you only need to water it when the soil begins to dry out. In addition, it is an excellent air purifying plant, perfect for improving the home environment with a touch of relaxing greenery.
As with all plants, however, the Peace Lily can also encounter various problems: environmental factors, above all, or inadequate care can weaken the plant to the point that it stops flowering.
But why does this happen? And how can you intervene in time? Don’t panic: if you learn to recognize the problem, you can intervene with an appropriate solution and revive the plant. In this way, you will ensure a wonderful flowering!
Let’s see what the reasons may be for which Spathiphyllum does not flower and how to remedy the problem.
Little light
Although Peace Lily is a low-light tolerant plant, it still needs some indirect light to flower. If it is too far from a window or in a dark corner, it may not produce flowers. Move it to a location with filtered light, such as near a window covered with a light curtain.
Too much water
Too much water can stress the plant and prevent it from flowering. Make sure the soil dries out slightly between waterings and that the pot has good drainage to avoid stagnation.
Nutrient deficiency
To flower, the peace lily needs nutrient-rich soil. If the plant has not flowered for a while, it may be useful to fertilize it with a liquid fertilizer for houseplants, rich in phosphorus, which promotes flowering. Be careful not to overdo it, because, on the contrary, an excessive amount of nutrients can also cause damage.
Too cold environment
Peace lilies prefer mild temperatures (between 18 and 27 degrees). If the environment is too cold or if the plant is exposed to drafts, it may not flower. Try to place it in an area of the house with stable temperatures and away from drafts.
