on How to Fix a Broken or Stuck Zipper in Seconds with These Tips
Whether they are made of metal or plastic, zippers have changed the way we dress or store things. The zipper was invented in the mid-1800s and has since been improved to have a closure almost as perfect as today’s zipper.
The almost is certainly not a coincidence. Although very useful, zippers can frequently get stuck or lose “teeth”, making it difficult to close.
There are many reasons why a zipper stops working and for each of them we have a solution below.
Zipper off the rails
Hold the zipper tracks firmly with pliers and simultaneously pry open the side with a flathead screwdriver.
The opening you need to create should be small, just enough for the ejected tooth to fit back in.
Broken connecting rod
It can happen that, following a movement that is a little too strong, you are left with the zipper in your hand.
A quick fix is to open the part where the tie rod was anchored with a screwdriver and insert a thin strip of fabric.
Stuck zipper
You can apply a little lip balm or petroleum jelly to make the zipper easier to open.
Missing teeth »
Cut the plastic part of a cotton swab into small pieces. Take a fragment and cut one end by opening a cup, then insert it into the part where the tooth is missing.
