on 2 effective tips for whitening mattresses and pillows without using bleach
A well-cleaned and disinfected mattress and pillow are essential for a good, restful and, above all, healthy rest. If they are associated with everything except dirt, these elements are also subject to it.
The accumulation of dust, dead cells and mites on the surfaces of the mattress and pillow not only generates unsightly stains, but also exposes us to the risk of illness. Precisely for this reason, it is essential to clean them both with a certain periodicity.
It is normal for pillows and mattresses to lose their white color and turn yellow over time. This happens because of our sweat and other body fluids that eventually penetrate the sheets and settle on them.
Changing the sheets at least once a week is important, but you should also periodically clean the mattress and pillow and below we offer you 2 very effective tips in this regard.
To whiten pillows
You need:
3 liters of water
100 ml of hydrogen peroxide
juice of 5 lemons
200 ml of liquid detergent
50 ml of organic dishwashing liquid
125 g of borax
Procedure:
Mix water with hydrogen peroxide and lemon juice and set aside.
Check the label on the pillow to make sure it can be washed in the washing machine.
Run a hot wash cycle with the liquid detergent, dish soap, and borax. If possible, start the cycle with these products and mix them well before adding the pillows.
Place the hydrogen peroxide and lemon juice solution in the fabric softener basket.
Once the washing is complete, the cushions will look like new again.
