The bathroom is one of the most functional and essential rooms in any home. Our personal cleaning is done in the bathroom, so it is very important to keep it clean and disinfected.
To clean the bathroom, we almost always use industrial cleaning products, but they are loaded with chemicals that are good for us and the environment. They are also very expensive and often not very effective.
To clean all bathroom surfaces, just one natural ingredient is enough: baking soda. Able to disinfect, degrease and whiten any type of surface, baking soda is a universal and versatile ingredient in household cleaning.
Deep cleaning of toilets
Mix two equal parts of white vinegar and baking soda and mix well. Wait for the effervescent reaction to stop, then add the juice of one lemon and continue mixing.
Apply this solution all over the toilet and use the toilet brush to scrub it well. Leave it on for 15 minutes, then rinse. Don’t forget to also clean the inside of the toilet and scrub the edges.
Clean the toilet brush
A spotless toilet brush is essential for having a clean and odor-free toilet. After cleaning the toilet, flush the toilet and let the clean water rinse the toilet brush completely.
Then immerse it in a solution composed of 100 grams of bicarbonate, 1 tablespoon of salt, 240 ml of white vinegar and a drop of soap. Let it soak for 15 minutes, then rinse.
Removing limescale from the shower head
Over time, limescale and minerals in the water can build up between the holes in the shower head, reducing the pressure of the water flowing through them.
To properly clean your shower head, soak it in a bag filled with vinegar for about 30 minutes. Then spread baking soda on it and use an old toothbrush to scrub thoroughly. Finally, rinse thoroughly with water.
Whiten the bathtub
To restore the color and shine of the bathtub, you need water, vinegar, alcohol and baking soda. Pour 250 ml of white vinegar, 250 ml of alcohol and 150 grams of baking soda into 4 liters of water.
Pour the solution into the bathtub and use a sponge to thoroughly clean the entire surface. After about 15 minutes, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Removing mold from tiles
Moisture and poor ventilation can promote mold growth on bathroom tiles and between grout lines. Luckily, you don’t need to resort to chemicals to get rid of it—a little vinegar will do the trick.
Spray the tiles with white vinegar. Wait about 15-20 minutes, then sprinkle a sponge with baking soda and use it to scrub the tiles thoroughly until the mold is completely removed. Finally, rinse.
Clean the shower glass
Vinegar and baking soda are a perfect solution for cleaning shower glass. Mix 2 parts vinegar with 2 parts water, 1 part baking soda and 1 part rubbing alcohol. Pour into a spray bottle and spray on the glass.
Wait about 10 minutes, then wipe with a microfiber cloth to clean, remove residue and dry.
Shiny faucets
Rub a halved lemon directly on the metal of the faucets to restore their original shine.
Alternatively, you can dampen a toothbrush with a little water, pour in some baking soda and scrub all metal surfaces. This will ensure a thorough cleaning and removal of all limescale stains. Leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing.
Perfume the trash
In addition to washing it frequently with soap and water, you can prevent and eliminate bad odors in your bathroom trash can by pouring a few tablespoons of baking soda into the bottom.
Unclog and deodorize the sink
Pour a solution of 2 parts white vinegar and 1 part baking soda down the sink drain.
Wait about 5 minutes, then pour hot water to flush out any residue in the drain, unclog it and deodorize it.
