5 DIY Natural Home Fragrances

Every home has a specific aroma. It’s very important that we have one we like, as it helps us feel better.

Typically, those who want to give their home a special scent rely on commercial air fresheners. Unfortunately, these products are loaded with chemicals that seriously endanger our health. These include phthalates, substances linked to disorders such as hormonal imbalances, reproductive abnormalities, and birth defects.

Below are the ingredients to create natural home fragrances .

Fruit: The fresh scent of citrus fruits lasts the longest. Lemons and oranges are undoubtedly the best.
Herbs: Use any herbs you like, but keep in mind that those from woody branches have a longer-lasting aroma. We recommend rosemary and thyme.
Cedar branches and pine needles: their scent is pleasant and fresh.
Extracts: Use a little vanilla or almond extract to enhance and strengthen the flavors. Mint extract is also particularly recommended.
Spices: Can be used powdered or whole. Cinnamon and cloves last the longest.
Some recommended combinations:

Orange, cinnamon and cloves
Lemon, rosemary and vanilla
Lemon extract, thyme, mint leaves and vanilla
Orange, ginger and almond extract
Pine branches, bay leaves and nutmeg

Place the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Add water as the water in the pan evaporates. Your home will be filled with a very pleasant aroma.

Another option is to use a fondue pot to keep the mixture always hot. This ensures the mixture never boils, even though it releases a fragrant steam.
