The only ingredients to use to preserve strawberries, without having to freeze anything, are:

  • Sugar 3kg
  • Strawberries 3kg

What are the steps to preserving strawberries for up to 12 months? Read on to find out! It will only take a few minutes to keep them at their best.

We take the freshly picked strawberries and transfer them into a large bowl.

Pour cold water into the balls and let them soak for about 5 or 6 minutes.

Then we pass our strawberries, after having drained them, under a jet of running water to clean them well.

Once this is done, using a knife, remove the stalk and sepals from each strawberry. I recommend that if the strawberries are very large, we can also cut them in half.

Next, pour a small portion of the sugar indicated on the list into a large bowl. Then, cover the sugar with a few strawberries and continue until all the ingredients are used up. However, it is important to leave a handful of sugar aside so that you can reuse it at the end of your preparation.

At this stage, all that remains is to let the strawberries rest in the sugar for 3 hours and mix them from time to time with extreme delicacy.

Once the sugar appears to be completely dissolved, transfer the strawberries to clean, dry glass jars.

Once we reach the edge of the jar, we pour the sugar inside as well.

Finally, on the surface of each jar, pour the sugar previously set aside.

Then we hermetically seal the jars and store our strawberries in the fridge for 1 year.

Here are our sweet strawberries, ready to eat and use, any day of the year we wish.

Well done.
