Winter time is definitely not kind to drivers, who face all sorts of challenges, including dangerous driving on snowy and icy roads, reduced visibility due to rain and snow, or simply the difficulty of starting your car in the morning before going to work. Not to mention the annoyance of having to defrost a windshield that has become covered in ice overnight. In addition to wasting time, the task is not easy, as you have to avoid damaging your car.
But did you know that your vehicle is equipped with a button that can get you out of trouble in just a few minutes? Simply press it to melt the ice very quickly. Discover this trick now!
A very quick way to defrost the windshield!
With the cold temperatures prevailing in winter, many motorists have to deal with frost forming on their car windshields. The task is tedious, but they have no choice but to vigorously use the ice scraper to defrost the windows to ensure good visibility and thus drive safely. You’d be surprised to know that you have a choice. In fact, there’s a very interesting but little-known trick that can get you out of this mess without any effort or hassle.
As detailed by the British newspaper The Mirror, a viral TikTok video has caused a stir among internet users: it reveals a simple and very quick way to defrost the windshield. To quickly defrost the windshield, simply press a standard button on the dashboard found on most cars. The strangest thing is that many drivers weren’t even aware of the button’s existence, even though they were comfortably in their vehicle. Published on the British TikTok channel @DrivingTestSuccess, the video then explains that all you have to do is press the ventilation button on the windshield and set it to maximum airflow. This heats the glass and, as if by magic, the ice melts in a few minutes.
“ Turn up the temperature. Set the windshield fan to maximum; the heat will begin to melt the ice on the windshield. Then, wipe off any excess water and turn the fan back on normal operation.” The video demonstrates the trick live: you can clearly see the rapid melting of the ice from the car’s windshield.
How to defog the windshield effortlessly?
Can’t stand the constant fogging of your windshield? Here’s a very effective solution: turn on the hot air and direct it toward the top of the car to dry the moisture that has accumulated on the glass. While cold air works just as well, it will take longer for the fog to dissipate. This is therefore the most common solution, especially on cars without air conditioning.
In cars equipped with automatic climate control, however, there is a special button for quick defogging of the windshield. If you want to do it manually, you must activate the hot air and the air conditioning at the same time. Although it may seem incongruous, when the air conditioning is on, it passes through an evaporator that reduces its humidity before exiting through the grilles, improving its defogging efficiency.
