To protect balcony plants from green bugs, you can rely on very effective natural remedies.
Green bugs
A balcony full of plants always makes an impression, especially in spring and summer, when our green friends can stay outside the house more easily, obviously guaranteeing good protection in case of particularly intense heat. However, it is not uncommon for our plants to be attacked by various pests, which appear especially in the warmer periods. Therefore, with the arrival of sunny days and warmer temperatures, we should always keep an eye on our plants on the balcony or in the garden. Among the many insects that can bother our green friends, there are also green bugs .
Green bugs on plants: the best remedies to eliminate them
These insects emerge mainly in summer and settle on the leaves of plants. The reason is very simple: green insects feed on the sap of plants.
Green bugs
They do not cause any harm to humans, but on the contrary they can also represent a very serious risk for plants.
Fortunately, there are methods to rid plants of these insects . Many choose to rely on chemical solutions that are easily found on the market, but it is better to focus more on natural and organic remedies.
Just to give an example, garlic macerate is an ideal ingredient for repelling these insects from plants. Preparing this all-natural component is really very simple.
Let’s take a few cloves of garlic – about 80 grams – and cut them into small pieces, then immerse them in water (about 5 liters, editor’s note) for about 24 hours.
After this time, all that remains is to filter the mixture and use the resulting liquid to spray the foliage of the plants . By doing so, we will have provided the plant with an excellent ally against these insects, which will also keep other pests away.
Another element that allows the plant to no longer have to face green insects is Neem oil . About ten drops of this ingredient are enough: pour them into a liter of water and mix well.
Once this is done, spray the resulting liquid on the plant’s leaves , and the green bugs will be a thing of the past. In fact, these insects cannot stand the smell of Neem oil.
Marseille soap is also an excellent way to combat green bedbugs and is also easy to recover, since it is often already present in the house. Dissolve about 30 grams of flakes in half a liter of water, taking care to mix everything well.
After letting the solution sit for a short while, put it in a spray bottle and spray the plant, so as to guarantee excellent protection against green stink bugs.
Tobacco infusion is also an excellent remedy
It is important to spray these natural solutions also on the back of the leaves , as green bugs often tend to hide on the less visible side of the leaf.
Cigar tobacco
Finally, to eliminate green plant bugs, you can also try tobacco infusion . The preparation is very simple. Pour half a handful of cigar tobacco into a saucepan with two liters of water, which must be brought to a boil.
As soon as the water boils, turn off the heat and let it sit for about three or four hours . After this time, we filter the resulting solution and insert the liquid into the spray bottle, so that we can accurately spray the plants found on the balcony or in the garden.
