Also check the roots under the orchid’s soil. If they are rotten or completely dry, this is a sign that the plant is not feeding properly and is at risk of dying. But the last word has not yet been said. In fact, you should know that it is possible to save it by putting it under hydrotherapy. What is it? First, completely remove the plant from its soil.
Next, remove the rotten roots and do not add anything else to the plant. Then check if the orchid still has fleshy roots, which are necessary for its rehabilitation. Now take a goblet-type glass about 10-15 cm high and soak the roots of the plant throughout the day, removing them at night, thus giving the orchid the opportunity to hydrate without rotting.
Continue this process for a full week, after which you’ll notice that your orchid’s leaves are invigorated. Now it’s time to put it back in the pot. To continue keeping the plant well hydrated, it’s advisable to get some expanded clay to put in the saucer, which is necessary to continue the hydrotherapy.
Now, take the vase and add more soil. Insert the orchid and cover all the roots with more soil. Try to keep the plant upright while repotting to give it a more vigorous appearance. This also helps the plant absorb water better through its roots.
To have splendid orchids, it is advisable to use demineralized water, or water from rainwater harvesting, because they are free of certain elements that could harm the flower and the plant.
