Cucumber
What is plaster used for?
Cucumbers can be grown outdoors or in greenhouses, but regardless of the choice, they need basic nutrition such as that provided by chalk. In fact, this substance makes the soil even more suitable for growing vegetables, neutralizes acidity and improves soil structure .

In its composition, gypsum contains substances useful for feeding vegetables and therefore also cucumbers, such as calcium, a substance that cucumbers need in large quantities to grow and develop.

The high source of calcium contained in gypsum is therefore essential to improve the quantity and quality of the harvest . Especially during fruit formation, if the calcium necessary for their luxuriant growth is lacking, rot problems can occur and the harvest can shrink and deteriorate.

Gypsum is already naturally present in the soil, but sometimes it’s not enough to provide cucumbers with all the calcium they need for magnificent growth. To compensate for this deficiency, you can water cucumbers and other vegetables with a homemade chalk fertilizer, following a simple procedure. Here’s how.

How to Make Chalk Fertilizer
To prepare chalk fertilizer you need a few ingredients, here are the following:

200 grams of chalk;
10 liters of lukewarm water.
Gypsum must be ground before use, a procedure necessary to completely dissolve the substance in water and distribute it evenly throughout the soil . In addition to calcium, dissolved gypsum will also provide plants with very important substances such as silicon and magnesium, essential for healthy growth.

To grind the plaster, place it in a zip-top plastic bag and place it on a cutting board. Using a wooden hammer or meat tenderizer, pound the plaster several times until it is reduced to a powder.

Once you have the chalk powder, pour it into the warm water that you have placed in a container. You can do this by reducing the doses, knowing that you need 50 grams of chalk for 2.5 liters of warm water.

How to use cucumber fertilizer
Once you have added the chalk powder to the warm water, mix the solution thoroughly and let it sit for 10 minutes. Once the time is up, mix it again and let it sit for another ten minutes . At this point, put the resulting liquid in the watering can and water the cucumber plants, making sure that the product reaches the soil near the plant as much as possible.

Water the cucumbers with this solution once a month , preferably in the evening , and you will see that the harvest will be more abundant, it will even double after just one week .

The nutrients contained in the chalk will immediately become effective and will allow you to grow many other vegetables in the best possible way, always having abundant harvests and healthy products to bring to the table. Whether you use this fertilizer on cucumbers grown outdoors or in a greenhouse, you will be able to rid them of gray mold that prevents them from growing healthy.

If you water your cucumbers with chalk correctly, you will give these plants the food they need to grow and multiply, because the soil is better for this crop . At the same time, you should know that when planting, chalk protects cucumbers from a large number of pests, thus keeping them away from the plants and protecting them from dangerous attacks.
