Your plant’s leaves are wilted, or your plant is unfortunately completely dry, and you don’t understand why. It’s obvious, you don’t have a green thumb. Why not opt for houseplants that require very little maintenance?
We have prepared for you a list of ten plants that require little water and are almost self-sufficient.

These plants are easy to maintain and therefore allow you to carry out your various occupations.

1- Sago palm or Japanese sago

Japanese cycad, Japanese sago, or even sago palm… this is the nickname given to this small shrub native to the Land of the Rising Sun. This indoor plant will bring an exotic touch that will uniquely dress up any room in your home. The Japanese sago will be in its element in a bright location with a temperature between 20 and 22°C. This beautiful plant also appreciates humidity, and for good flowering, it is recommended to water it with mineral water at least every two weeks. In winter, you can let it dry out a few centimeters before watering it again. Make sure to keep your pets away from your plant as it is toxic. It produces a neurotoxic amino acid that makes it dangerous.

Choose mother-in-law’s tongue for its distinctive blooms. With its resilient foliage, this houseplant will delight even the laziest. It has no stem, making it much easier to care for. To grow this beautiful plant, it doesn’t require regular watering. Moderate watering is recommended from May to September, but starting in October, the plant goes dormant, and you can definitely stop watering from December. After this dormancy, resume watering in early March until new roots develop.
3- Orchids

Orchids are very hardy tropical flowers. This plant variety has over 25,000 species, forming the richest family in the plant world. These flowers of different colors should be placed in a ventilated area with plenty of light, away from direct sunlight. Orchids do not need to be watered. It is recommended to submerge the vase of these indoor flowers in a tray of water for about fifteen minutes. Then drain it before replacing it. For optimal flowering of their butterfly-shaped flowers, avoid placing them near radiators and other heat sources.

Also called Beaucarnea, this small indoor tree doesn’t require much maintenance. It likes to be placed in a bright spot and in a fairly narrow pot. It doesn’t like having too much space. It requires very little water because its stems store water to act as a reservoir in case of drought. To grow the elephant’s foot, simply water it once or twice a month in case of strong heat and in winter it is unnecessary to water it. This indoor plant prefers a lack of water rather than being overwatered.
5- Hairy Chlorophytum or spider plant

The hairy chlorophytum, or spider plant, can go without water for up to a week. These indoor green plants will thrive in a bright location but without direct sunlight. It is ideally placed in a hanging pot to showcase its ribbon-like foliage. Very hardy, it tolerates drought better than overwatering. Its nutrient-rich roots are capable of storing water and allow for less frequent watering.
6- The Zamioculcas or ZZ plant

Zamioculcas is a wonderful houseplant because it doesn’t require much attention. Ideal as a decorative object, the ZZ plant doesn’t like receiving large amounts of water. It will grow easily in a bright spot near a window exposed to full sun. Good news for those who tend to forget to water their pretty plants because zamioculcas don’t like to be watered too much. It will be happy with consistently moist soil with non-calcareous water.
7- Kalanchoe daigremontiana

Nicknamed the mother of a thousand children, it has foliage adorned with small green and brown plants. This plant, native to Madagascar, is very easy to grow. It should be placed in a bright location, away from cold drafts. This succulent does not require much watering. Water it so that its soil is always dry between waterings.
8-Aglaonemi

This houseplant is a real eye-catcher with its distinctive foliage in mottled red and green. It should be grown in a bright spot, but not in direct sunlight. To preserve the beauty of its leaves, it thrives in a spot with a temperature above 14°C. Its soil should never dry out completely, so it’s recommended to water it regularly. However, you can let it breathe for a week or two while the soil dries.

9-Pothos

Pothos thrives in bright locations but should not be exposed to direct light. Its green leaves with creamy highlights make this houseplant an ideal decorative item for your home. It doesn’t require much water, and watering can be reduced until its soil is dry.
10- Succulents

This type of succulent plant is recognizable by its thick, fleshy leaves, much like cacti, for example. These houseplants are ideal because they don’t require much maintenance. Their thick foliage has the ability to store water to withstand long periods of drought. With these succulents, you can go on vacation without any risk.
