Garden ants can be incredibly annoying, especially when they begin to invade your plants, climbing the stems and leaves. They can be a major nuisance for gardeners, causing damage by nibbling at roots and leaves. Garden ants often form large colonies, making them difficult to eliminate, as some may hide in the soil or under stones and debris. Additionally, when disturbed, ants release pheromones that can attract even more ants to your garden, exacerbating the problem.
This makes managing ants in the garden a difficult task. The most common approach is to use organic or chemical pesticides to get rid of them. However, chemical pesticides can have adverse effects on our health, as well as that of our pets, and even the plants themselves.
That’s why we have a simple method that can help you quickly fight ants, and the best part is that you can prepare it using items you already have at home.
Using a Rice Bottle Trap to Kill Ants
To create an effective ant trap, you will need rice, a half-liter plastic bottle, and clothespins or clips.
First, make sure the bottle is completely dry and clean, free of any odors that might deter ants from our trap.
Fill the bottle with rice.
Place one or two clothespins or clips on the neck of the bottle.
Now turn the bottle upside down and let some rice flow out (but not all of it).
That’s all – now you wait.
It is essential to use the cheapest rice you can find as it contains a high amount of starch, which is perfect for our ant repellent trap.
