Growing garlic is an ideal project for both beginners and experienced gardeners. When a garlic bulb is planted in potting soil, roots form immediately. You can plant multiple garlic cloves in the same pot, and below we’ll explain how to grow garlic at home easily and economically.
To grow garlic at home, you’ll need: garlic cloves, a pot at least 20 cm deep, and soil. Choose garlic cloves of your favorite variety, leaving the skin intact. The pot should be at least 20 centimeters deep and have drainage at the bottom.
Fill the pot with soil, then place the garlic cloves at least 10 centimeters deep, with the “pointy” end facing up. Place the blocks at least 8 centimeters apart. Place the pot in a corner of the house where it can receive sunlight for at least 8 hours a day.
Garlic should be grown during the warmer months as sunlight is essential for its germination. With proper care, it can also be planted in winter.
Avoid overwatering the garlic plant, as this could cause the garlic clove you planted to rot. Garlic can take 8 to 10 months to produce its “fruit.”
