Having plants in the house is nice, they give a beautiful and harmonious touch to the home, but some have additional benefits such as the jade tree, which is also known as the tree of abundance or wealth, but, although it is an easy plant to take care of, it is not so simple to make it bloom, that is why today we are going to explain   why your jade tree does not bloom and we will give you the recipe for a homemade fertilizer to achieve this  .

It is a species of succulent scientifically called ‘Crassula ovata’, it is very hardy and adapts well to indoors. It has very fleshy green leaves and thick stems, is slow growing and does not require too much attention.

The flowers of the jade tree are beautiful,   star-shaped and white to pink in color  . They appear at the tips of the branches and once they appear, they disappear and the stem turns brown.

These flowers appear in late winter and early spring  , but these plants grow without flowering for many years, even in their natural habitat, because they must reach a level of maturation around 10 years of life, although they can do so before, it is rare.

Why isn't my jade tree blooming?

Basic care to make it bloom:

  • As a good succulent, it needs a well-drained substrate.
  • It should be well fed with worm castings or compost, you can also use fertilizers for African violets
  • It will be enough to water it once every 15 days.
  • In winter, you can extend watering longer and do it only once a month
  • You should never water its leaves to keep it in good condition
  • You should not put it in a humid, cold and dark place
  • It needs a lot of light, but never direct
  • Interiors with a temperate climate are a good place to live

Fertilizer to make a jade tree bloom

You will need:

  • 5 tomatoes
  • Cascade

Step by step:

  1. Peel the tomatoes until the skin is removed from all sides.
  2. Boil the tomato skin with 1 liter of water
  3. Boil for two minutes until infused
  4. Turn off the heat and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
  5. Mix as best as possible
  6. Mix this concentrate with two parts water
  7. Water your jade tree with this mixture, remembering never to wet the leaves or overwater
  8. You can keep it in the refrigerator
