Why isn’t your Moses basket producing flowers? 3 tips to make it bloom all year round

Hespatiphilus, better known as Moses’ crib, is one of the most popular plants to have inside our home, not only are they beautiful, but they are also able to absorb excess humidity from the environment and eliminate certain pollutants from the home, although they are easy to care for, they do not always produce flowers, that’s why today we are going to teach you 3 tricks to make your Moses crib bloom all year round .

Because it is a hardy and relatively easy-care plant, many people often overlook certain specific needs to keep it healthy, beautiful, and blooming, and these mistakes are usually related to humidity and lighting.

Without a doubt, one of the features we love most about this plant is its white flowers that resemble gannets. And although it usually blooms between March and September, it can bloom all year round.

As Purdue University in Indiana explains, there are several reasons why our Moses’ birthplace isn’t blooming, but the most common are plant age, temperature, lighting, and watering.

According to the plant specialist website “Info Gardening”, the Moses’ cradle can flower more than once a year without resorting to special or expensive tricks, provided that its basic care is maintained.

Lighting:

Moses’ crib requires a lot of indirect lighting, it must be placed in a place and in a room where it has a lot of light, but without reaching the sun’s rays otherwise its leaves could burn.

By placing it in a dark location, the plant may not die, but it will be less likely to flower.

Lack of nutrients:

Nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus deficiencies are largely responsible for the lack of flowering, so it is important to periodically fertilize the plants with nutrients and products adapted to their needs.

Ideally, fertilize your Moses basket in early spring or summer, when it needs it most. But be careful not to overdo it; using too much will result in more flowers.

Irrigation:

One of the most common mistakes when caring for a Moses basket is watering. It is important to ensure that it always has the right humidity and to take into account the changing watering needs depending on the season. During the warmer months, abundant irrigation is necessary and the soil should remain moist, but not waterlogged, while during the colder months, watering should be reduced and water should only be given when the soil is dry.
