Wooden ladles are among the most used utensils in the kitchen and must be treated properly to disinfect them perfectly and reuse them daily without danger to health . Unfortunately, given the material, we cannot put them in the dishwasher, as the appliance reaches very high temperatures and the material can be easily damaged.

Additionally, heat and humidity promote the growth of bacteria in the material, so be sure to wash them thoroughly before reusing them. It’s also a good idea to avoid chemical dishwashing detergents, as they are generally harsh and can damage the wood of the utensils.

This type of utensil tends to absorb, which is why dirt, grease, and food residues concentrate on it, which is why hot water and dish detergent are often not enough to eliminate bacteria and disinfect them. Don’t worry, here is a solution to have perfectly disinfected wooden ladles !

Disinfectant mix for wooden ladles
To keep your wooden ladles perfectly free of dirt and properly disinfected, you can opt for a specially prepared mixture. With this mixture, you can thoroughly clean these utensils and rid them of bacteria, thus avoiding health risks.

The first thing to do is choose a large container to prepare the mixture and then dip the wooden ladles into. Once you’ve found the container, here’s how to prepare the mixture and how to clean the ladles:

Pour 1.5 liters of water into a saucepan;
Add 1 1/2 cups of vinegar to the water;
Place the pan on the heat and boil for about 10 minutes;
Remove the pan from the heat and pour the solution into the container;
Dip the wooden ladles into the solution and let them soak until the liquid cools.
Once the solution has cooled, it’s time to remove them and rinse them under running water. After rinsing them thoroughly with water, place the ladles in the open air to let them dry quickly.

The mixture also contains lemon juice.
You can also add a little lemon juice to the mixture, which will release a pleasant scent and calm the strong vinegar odor. Lemon’s degreasing and sanitizing action makes it one of the most effective ingredients for cleaning these utensils, as it helps easily remove strong odors and grease.

Then add lemon juice to the solution prepared as previously indicated to make your ladles even cleaner and sanitized and also pleasantly scented. Instead of placing them in the open air, if you do not know how to do it, you can dry the ladles with a soft, dry cloth , which will be able to treat the wood delicately so as not to damage it.

The mixture described above can be used whenever it is necessary to clean them, as they are natural ingredients, which do not cause any harm to the material or our health. The results we will obtain are certainly excellent and we will no longer have utensils full of bacteria and dirt, but very clean and disinfected, to cook food without danger to health!
