Cleaning the house takes time… and very often we work hard to make the house smell and shine.
The bathroom, above all, requires some attention. And when a bathroom doesn’t have a window, the problem is greater, even if we have installed vacuum systems.
When we wash or use the shower, various condensation problems promote the presence of bad odors, as well as the formation of damp stains and mold.
But what you may hate most is the stench that remains in the bathroom, even if we have cleaned it.
That’s why today we want to give you some tips on how to always have a fragrant bathroom even if it doesn’t have a window!
DIY Deodorant Spray:
As a first step, we’d like to offer you a natural, DIY spray that you can use whenever needed. This is a very simple and inexpensive recipe that will also be useful for other home environments!
Here’s what we need:
300 ml of water
2 tablespoons of baking soda
10 drops of essential oil of your choice
Take a measuring jug, add water and dissolve 2 tablespoons of baking soda in it. At this point, add the essential oil of your choice. You can opt for lavender essential oil, or even sandalwood… Depending on your preferences, don’t hesitate.
Pour everything into a spray bottle. The absorbent action of the baking soda will eliminate unpleasant odors, while the essential oils will add fragrance!
Toilet Paper Method:
There’s a little trick we want to share with you today. Yes, indeed! We can scent our bathroom with simple toilet paper.
This method is even more effective if you have fabric toilet paper receptacles hanging on your bathroom wall.
All you need is your favorite essential oil and a few drops on the inner cardboard of the roll. This way, you’ll have a scented bath in an effective and completely economical way.
Rose Petals:
There are tons of ways to reuse scented rose petals. This unique fragrance brings back lasting memories of our grandmothers and their perfumes.
Did you know that you can create a very pleasant scented bathroom fragrance? Here too, the procedure is very simple.
First, let the rose petals dry for a few days. Then place them in a jar and pour a little olive oil over them so that it completely covers the petals.
Leave everything on your windowsill for five days, making sure it gets some sunlight.
After 5 days, strain the oil and transfer it to another jar. Insert some wooden (or bamboo) sticks, and you’ve created a great natural remedy for your windowless bathroom!
With baking soda:
Once again, we choose baking soda for its countless virtues!
Here’s an even simpler room fragrance that will make your bathroom smell great and free from bad odors!
Take a jar and cover it with 3 fingers of baking soda. Add a few drops of essential oil and mix; you should feel the fragrance enveloping.
Simply take a candle and place it in the center after lighting it. This way, the heat from the flame will ensure the fragrance spreads throughout the bathroom.
Potpourri:
One way to keep your bathroom fresh is to use potpourri. It can also be purchased at home improvement stores, but you can actually make it in the comfort of your own home, having fun and choosing the scent you prefer for yourself.
Bring whatever you have at home: rose petals, citrus peels, cloves, or cinnamon sticks. If you have the peels and petals, let them dry on your balcony for a few days. If it’s winter, they’re also good on the radiator.
We take a mortar and grind them gently, so that they release their fragrance, or simply mix them and let them sit, so that the fragrance amalgamates.
To enhance the scent, we can choose an essential oil based on the ingredients we have chosen.
At this point, we can place the Potpourri in the windowless bathroom and also at the entrance, so that our guests are enveloped by the sweet and wonderful scent.
Additionally, potpourri can also be placed in drawers to scent laundry.
With alcohol and fabric softener:
This homemade method is very effective for perfuming our bathroom, even if it doesn’t have windows.
You will need to create a spray with two ingredients that you easily have at home: fabric softener and denatured alcohol.
In a measuring cup, add 200 ml of fabric softener (preferably concentrated) and then 200 ml of alcohol. Pour everything into a spray bottle and shake well.
This solution can be sprayed on bathroom fixtures and tiles. Two sprays are enough, then dry with a paper towel. You’ll notice your bathroom smelling like never before!
This is also a great method for toilet odors. In this case, spray the solution into the toilet and let it sit for a few minutes, then flush the drain.
Denatured alcohol will have a detergent and anti-odor action.
NB We recommend using an eco-friendly fabric softener to have a respectful impact on the environment.
Salt:
It may seem trivial, but a handful of salt can make all the difference in your bathroom! We know that this home environment is subject to a lot of humidity, so much so that mold stains can also appear.
But given salt’s tremendous ability to absorb moisture, we have a good solution. Take a bowl with a strainer on top, into which you’ve added a handful of salt. You’ll notice that the water in the environment will gradually drain into the bowl.
It is a very useful natural method that helps to avoid bad odors and enhance our natural perfumes.
