Silica gel packets are found in almost every new item we buy: bags, shoes, clothes, sometimes even in medicines. The first thing we do as soon as we see them is to throw them away. Yet, we miss so many opportunities to reuse them.

Dry the flowers . If you are looking to preserve a flower, silica gel can be a great help. Place the flower in a cardboard box and cover it with silica gel. Leave it for 2 or 3 days, then clean it.

Make silver shine . Silver items tend to darken due to humidity in the environment. Place silica gel packets in the drawer where you keep your silverware as a preventative measure.

Protect Razors . Store the razor you use to cut hair in a container filled with silica gel packets: they will remove excess moisture and prevent the blades from rusting.

Protect your photos . Moisture is one of the main enemies of photos, which tend to yellow over time. Avoid it with a silica gel sachet.

Recovering a wet cell phone . It may happen that the cell phone falls into water. Put the mobile in a container filled with silica gel and wait for a few hours.

Dry the clothes . Although it cannot be used regularly for laundry, this method helps us in “emergency” conditions, such as with used clothes at the beach. Keep them in a bag filled with silica gel packets to let them dry quickly.
