Baking soda works wonders not only around the house, but also in the garden, especially orchids!
Why do you put baking soda on orchids?
Baking soda is particularly useful for orchid blooms. It acts as a natural and harmless fertilizer. Perfect for stimulating flower growth and extending their lifespan!
Fertilizer
Use baking soda to promote orchid blooms. How do you proceed? Mix 1 liter of water with a few drops of dish soap and a tablespoon of baking soda. Sprinkle this solution over the base of the orchid.
Warning:
Be careful not to apply baking soda directly to the orchid and its substrate. These salt- and chalk-based products can be harsh on these delicate plants.
Other fertilizers:
There are other natural fertilizers that promote and support orchid flowering. For example, coffee grounds or water can be used for cooking (pasta, rice, potatoes).
Eggshell:
You can also use eggshell (composed of 37.5% calcium, 58% carbonate, and other minerals). In addition to promoting flowering, it also helps control pests such as slugs, insects, and ants.
Banana peel:
Banana peels can also be used as fertilizer. They contain potassium and nitrogen, which are ideal for orchids. Simply mix the banana peel with water and let it sit for 24 hours, then pour the mixture over the orchid.
Tea bag:
Tea bags can be used as a natural fertilizer. They contain nitrogen, an element that helps accelerate flowering.
Potato :
Potatoes can also be used as fertilizer. They are rich in potassium and phosphorus. Cut them into chunks and cook them (but do not use them cold). Then place them at the base of the plant.
