Want to grow an aloe vera plant but don’t know where to start? Here’s everything you need to know.
Aloe vera is a succulent plant, just like cacti. There are many varieties, but the most common is medicinal aloe vera, which grows up to 100 cm in height. You can grow it both as an ornamental plant , thanks to its beauty, and use it to obtain the gel from its fleshy leaves (excellent for various natural remedies).
In addition, aloe vera is also able to purify the air in the environments in which it grows, it is a truly useful plant!
To care for it and cultivate it well, you need very little, in fact, simply ignoring it will give the best of itself.
The two things to always check are: irrigation and sunlight.
The most common mistake made when growing aloe is overwatering it. Too much water will cause the plant to rot, so make sure you only water it when the topsoil is completely dry.
To grow it at its best, place it in a bright spot ; it will do well even in partial shade.
The ideal soil for this plant is made up of universal soil , pebbles and garden sand, this way water stagnation will not form.
Like most succulents, aloe does not need any type of compost or fertilizer , but you can use a natural one during its peak growing season, which is spring.
As for multiplication , in this case too the plant provides autonomously. Grow it in a large pot, you will see many new shoots from the roots born in total autonomy.
