The mandarin tree is suitable for Mediterranean or tropical climates  ,  but if you live in a cold or freezing place  ,  pots are the perfect option  ,  as you can easily move it indoors  .

This fruit has anti-inflammatory properties that help in the treatment of ulcers  ,  intestinal and digestive problems  . In addition, it  contains natural antioxidants  and is one  of the most beneficial fruits for the lungs  .

  1. Buy mandarin seeds or use the seeds from a mandarin orange  . If you decide to do the latter,  be sure to wash the seeds thoroughly and pat them dry  .
  2. Choose a  good quality potting soil that contains compost  ,  peat moss or perlite  .
  3. Fill the pot with this soil and make sure the pot has good drainage  .
  4. Give your soil a good amount of water before planting and let it dry in the sun until the soil is just damp  .
  5. Sow 2  to  3 seeds in the middle of the pot  and  cover with 1/2  inch of soil  .
  6. Cover the pot with a clear plastic bag to promote rapid germination of the seeds  .
  7. Place the pot in a warm place  .
  8. Water, making sure the soil is always moist  , but  not soggy  .
  9. As soon as the seedlings emerge, remove the plastic bag  .

–  How to care for mandarins

  • Water regularly  , ensuring  that the soil is always moist  .
  • Fertilize monthly to nourish your plant  . We recommend an  acid-based liquid fertilizer  .
  • As your mandarin tree grows, you will need to transplant it into a larger pot  .
  • If you live in a warm climate, you can transplant outdoors in spring  .

Once your mandarin tree has grown enough, place supports around  it,  or even a wooden crate to encourage upward growth rather than sideways  .
