In the process of producing fabric softeners , substances are used that are very harmful to our health, especially that of children.
Commercial fabric softeners can cause allergies and other skin problems. There’s a saying that goes, “If you can’t swallow it, don’t put it on your skin.” Fabric softeners are deposited on our clothes and, through them, come into contact with our skin. That’s why it’s important to avoid using commercial fabric softeners when doing your laundry.
Phthalates are among the most commonly used substances for flavoring. These substances have been shown to be harmful to our hormonal balance. By using fabric softener, we are not only harming our health, but also the environment.
That’s why you need to resort to nature and learn how to make this DIY laundry softener .
The ingredients are very simple: 100g of sodium bicarbonate, 200ml of hot water, 800ml of apple cider vinegar and a few drops of essential oil to taste.
In a large plastic container (3 to 5 liters capacity), mix the water, apple cider vinegar, and baking soda. These three ingredients will trigger a chemical reaction. Let it sit for a few minutes, then pour everything into a glass container, which will be the fabric softener container.
Then add the drops of essential oil (about 20), close the container and shake well.
The DIY fabric softener is ready to use: 4 tablespoons are enough for each wash. Remember to shake it well before use.
