How to Remove Rust from Doors and Windows in 2 Minutes

Rust is a natural phenomenon that occurs on metals such as steel and iron when they are exposed to large amounts of moisture.

Removing rust from certain surfaces is very important to avoid permanent deterioration of objects. This is the case of doors and windows, which are almost always exposed to the elements and therefore more prone to rust.

In this article we offer you 3 simple methods to remove rust from doors and windows , but also from any other metal surface, without resorting to chemicals and products harmful to health.

Remove rust with vinegar
Not only is white vinegar a great household cleaning ingredient, it’s also great for removing rust from metal.

If the metal object is removable, soak it in vinegar for a few hours. If it is fixed, as is the case with most doors and windows, soak a cloth in vinegar and place it on the rusty part for a few hours.

Either way, once you’re done applying the vinegar, wipe it off with a clean cloth to remove any residue.

Lemon and salt against rust
Both ingredients are very effective in removing deep rust without the risk of corroding metal surfaces.

Sprinkle some salt on the rusty area, then add the lemon juice. Leave for several hours, then scrub with a toothbrush and finally wipe with a clean cloth.

Remove rust with baking soda
The third and final method involves the use of baking soda, a very versatile and useful ingredient in household cleaning.

Mix baking soda with water until you get an almost creamy consistency, which you will apply on the rusty surfaces. Leave it to act for a few minutes, then scrub with a toothbrush and finally clean with a cloth.

Apply one of three remedies to rusty surfaces on your doors and windows to restore their new look and prevent permanent deterioration.
