Tips for whitening sneakers

If your white shoes have yellowed or become dirty over time, these tips for whitening them and restoring their fresh look are just what you need. White shoes are beautiful and can be paired with a myriad of outfits. However, they have the disadvantage of getting dirty quickly.

To properly clean white tennis shoes, soak them in water and salt, then wash them with detergent. Using a toothbrush, apply toothpaste and warm water to the canvas, then rinse thoroughly with cold water.

Another trick is to remove dirt from white shoes with a brush. Soap your shoes inside and out (removing the insole), then scrub well. Without rinsing, add coarse salt to the inside and outside of the shoes and let them soak for an hour.

Wash them in cold water to remove all soap residue (which would form yellow stains with sun exposure). Let them dry in the shade.

To whiten white shoes, you can also dissolve salt in milk and soak your tennis shoes in it for a few hours. Once done, wash normally and dry in the shade.

Mix baking soda with vinegar and use this solution to wash your shoes using a brush.

Remember that before washing your white shoes, you must remove all residue of dirt, mud or dust.

To prevent white tennis shoes from getting dirty easily, spray them with starch.
