Want to remove candle wax from jars? Water is not the solution

REMOVE THE HOT WAX FROM THE JARS

If the wax has just  been poured  and is still  liquid and hot,  the first method to use to remove it is to  blow out the candle  and use  a paper  towel to remove the melted wax. It is important to be careful  not to burn yourself  when doing this.

Once  the wax has been removed  , if the container has   stains or rings  , to clean it you can use a  microfiber cloth  soaked in  denatured alcohol  or  95° food grade alcohol  . On the other hand, if the wax has almost completely  solidified  , it is advisable to wait until it  has cooled  completely.

Then you can  remove  the wax with a  blade  , such as a  butter knife,  or with a  hard surface  like tile. After  scraping  the wax, you can wipe it again  with alcohol  to clean the jar.

The Gel Method for Removing Candle Wax from Jars

However, if the amount of  wax poured  is large, two  alternative methods  can be used:  heat  and  freezing  .

It is important to note that these  methods  can only be applied if the  candle holders are made of  materials  that can withstand  very low temperatures  ,  below 18°C  , or  very high temperatures  , above  80°C.  It follows that  more delicate materials  should not be  exposed  to these  extreme temperatures  .

So how do you remove  wax  with  frost  ? If the wax casting is in a  small  jar, you can place it in the  freezer  . The  cold  will cause  the wax to contract  and slide  off.

However, if the jar is  thin  and likely to  break  when exposed to low temperatures, it is advisable  to wrap it in snow  or simply place it  on the balcony in the cold.  Under no circumstances should you use a  blast chiller  to remove the wax.

Removing Hot Wax

The  second effective method  for removing wax uses  heat  . To remove  melted wax from a jar, you can use  hot water  , but make sure it does not  boil  .

Candles in the jar

If you want  to remove wax residue  from the inside  of the  container, you can make  small slits  in the wax residue and pour  hot water  into the container. Then,  let it sit  for a while. The wax will  melt  and  rise to the surface.

At this point, you can  remove any residue  by scraping the inside of the jar and then wiping it with a  microfiber cloth  soaked in oil  .  Finally, you can clean the jar with alcohol  and  rinse it with  warm, soapy water.

Now that you know different  ways  to remove candle wax from jars, you can  reuse the containers  in creative ways.  Cleaning them  properly will give   these jars  a new lease on life , which can be used to store items  or as  home decorations  .
