Cinnamon is a spice used worldwide, both in cooking and traditional medicine . Cinnamon is grown in warm regions, particularly in India and Sri Lanka. But it’s also possible to grow it at home, saving money: we’ll explain how below.
Cinnamon is propagated by seeds and cuttings. Place the seeds in a container filled with soil in a shady spot. After about 4 months, transplant it into a pot, which will be the permanent one, preferably outdoors. The height of the plant will depend on the size of the pot: if you have limited space, opt for a medium-sized pot.
Cinnamon doesn’t need direct sunlight, but it shouldn’t be placed in shade. Prune it periodically to prevent it from becoming too tall. During the cold months, try to protect the plant from drafts, as they can “burn” it .
The first harvest takes place after about 2 or 3 years, every two years. When the branches reach 3 cm in diameter and a purplish color, they should be cut about 5 cm from the main trunk.
