Sansevieria is a very well-known and appreciated plant, especially due to its incredible resistance. Requiring no special maintenance, sansevieria is a perfect plant for beginners. In addition, its very elegant leaves can give a tropical touch to our homes.
Few people know that sansevieria is also one of the easiest plants to reproduce. You only need to have a healthy plant to be able to propagate sansevieria and have many more.
This technique is particularly useful for obtaining a new plant from a damaged one. Below we explain how to do it.
Using disinfected scissors, cut the damaged leaf into small pieces, which will serve as cuttings.
Sprinkle some rooting hormone on the leaf pieces to heal the cut and encourage new roots to form.
Put some potting soil in a pot and place the sansevieria leaf pieces directly on top. Water lightly and wait.
Remember that sansevieria needs little water and should only be watered when the soil is completely dry.
Another quicker but equally effective technique for reproducing a sansevieria is to place a piece of leaf directly in a jar filled with water, placed near a well-lit window but without direct sunlight.
When the sansevieria roots have reached a length of about 4 centimeters, the plant is ready to be planted in the potting soil.
